men’s health

Wellness is close to manliness

Today, men are becoming increasingly comfortable dealing with issues relating to their health. In our practice, we are seeing more and more males enjoying the benefits of taking a health-first approach in all areas of their lives, from work to relationships and how you feel about yourself. As your quality of life improves, so too does your chances of a living a longer, healthier life.

And we have to say, it’s a great thing. Modern day men potentially have just as many health risks, if not more, than women. From a wellness point of view, the cardio-vascular metabolic risks are far greater for males than females. Things like high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and high fatty liver disease are a result of too much fat around the organs and can lead to a greater risk of cardio-vascular metabolic disease. Other very male conditions include high blood pressure, risk of type 2 diabetes, prostate cancer, colon cancer, heart attack and stroke. Men over 45 are entitled for a free health check, so we encourage you to book that now.

Reproductive and sexual health are two of the many healthy things men are more comfortable discussing. We understand the importance of being able to talk openly about personal ‘male only’ topics like prostate cancer, an enlarged prostate or simply prostate health in general. Other topics we hear daily include male depression, hormone imbalances and erectile dysfunction.

Beyond this, we can help with more everyday matters including snoring, hair removal, difficult-to-move weight and laser work (scarring and acne treatments). So whether you’re 25, 45 or 65, the good news is we have informed, accepting professionals, ready to listen. Whatever the nature of your concern, we can help you better understand it and work out a plan to manage it.

We are, proudly, a GP Urgent Care Network Pilot participating practice.
